For a day, visit and discover the history of the Côte d’Or through historic sites. Between historical culture and gastronomy, you will fall in love with this region and its heritage.
Discover the Abbey of Fontenay, founded in 1118 by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, which is the oldest preserved Cistercian abbey in the world. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981.
After a guided tour of the abbey, head to the restaurant of your choice: the Abbaye de la Bussière and its restaurant « 1131 », starred in the Michelin guide, to continue with a remarkable historical setting or the Auberge de Guillaume, whose chef Guillaume Royer is Meilleur Ouvrier de France.
Finally, you will visit the castle of Commarin, classified as a Historic Monument in 1949 and belonging to the same family for 900 years. Furnished with its 18th century furniture, it will reveal to you the art of living of the French nobility. Cross the Ouche valley to return to Beaune at the end of the day.
